Disney Cruise Line is excited to introduce a new island destination at Lighthouse Point, nestled on the southernmost tip of the island Eleuthera—where the deep-blue Atlantic Ocean meets the turquoise waters of The Bahamas. Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point uniquely celebrates Bahamian culture with the magic of Disney.
The Walt Disney Imagineering team collaborated with Bahamian artists and advisors to create a destination that represents the natural beauty and rich culture of the Bahamas, brought to life through Disney storytelling and the unparalleled service of local Cast and Crew.
In addition to the pristine beaches, families will enjoy a recreation center, dining, shopping, a water playground, a cultural pavilion and more.
The Goombay Cultural Center's brilliantly colored pavilion celebrates the rich history of The Bahamas and houses a wide range of programming, including the “Sights and Sounds of Junkanoo” family workshop, where local artisans will teach Guests all about Junkanoo, the signature festival of The Bahamas filled with colorful parades, dancing, and music.
Disney has committed to develop less than 20 percent of the property; supply 90 percent of the site’s power from solar energy; employ sustainable building practices; and donate more than 190 acres of privately owned land to the government. Environmental management programs were established prior to construction, which and will continue throughout the destination's operation.
“Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point is full of unique native animal and plant species, and I am proud of our conservation team who have been working for many years to help create this magical cruise destination where nature can continue to thrive,” said Dr. Mark Penning, Vice President, Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment.
“Disney Lookout Cay is another example of how Disney is taking meaningful and measurable action to protect nature and support a healthier planet for people and wildlife.”
