While on shore leave, it is required to carry documentation with you at ALL TIMES:
- Crew ID
- Shore Pass
- Meyer Werft Boarding Card
- Copy of your passport
Approved Shore Leave Locations
All Officers and Crew Members need to remain within the province and municipalities surrounding Eemshaven, which include Groningen and Appingedam (see map below).
Crew are NOT permitted to travel to Rotterdam or Amsterdam while on Shore Leave, as these are outside of the approved locations to visit per immigration guidelines.
Shore Leave Transportation Services
Traveling to Groningen: Bus transportation services will be available to the train station, which is about 10 minutes from the center of town.
Traveling to Appingedam:
Appingedam is approximately 45 minutes by train, and the train station is 10 minutes from Eemshaven.
MAKE SURE you are prepared to arrive for a direct train that leaves on :06 or :09, otherwise your train will route through other cities and your trip will be much longer
Helpful Tips for Shore Leave
Once Officers and Crew have embarked the ship, there will be no access to cars to run errands. Local bus, taxi, or train services will need to be utilized for traveling during Shore Leave.
Remember, you may not bring any alcohol on board – no wine, beer, liquor nor any empty alcohol bottles
When choosing souvenirs, be mindful of space. You may not bring food items that require any kind of preparation – chips, crisps, cookies, or candy are permitted but no spices, mixes, etc. You may not bring candles or matches (cabin rules apply)
It is recommended to avoid establishments where marijuana may be present
