• Always follow safety precautions to protect your valuables when traveling and while ashore. Please keep the following tips in mind while off the ship or traveling to or from the vessel.
  • Be vigilant in crowded places where tourists and large crowds gather. Airports, metro stations, open air terraces and lines to enter buildings can be attractive locations for pickpockets who are very skilled using distraction techniques.
  • If you do need to carry a bag, please carry money, passports, and other important documents in a money belt or other secure carrying case.
  • Do not keep large amounts of cash with you or show money in public.
  • And remember, never leave your bag unattended and always maintain constant visibility of all bags, backpacks and carry-ons.

Exercising caution, public vigilance, and awareness of surroundings remains of the utmost importance to maintain personal safety. 

• Make sure you know what to do once you arrive. We encourage you to familiarize yourself with the information below before you travel, so you will be prepared once you arrive. We strongly recommend you screenshot and/or print this page as Wi-Fi access could be limited while you are traveling.

• Keep your important documents with you at all times. When packing, make sure your passport, visas, and required certificates are readily accessible. You may be asked to present your documents at the airport before boarding your flight and upon arrival at your destination at Immigration or Customs. Please be sure that you know where these documents are and keep them secure.

• Know who to contact in case of any challenges while you are traveling. For police, fire, or medical emergencies after you arrive in Rome, call 112. For other assistance, review key contacts on this page below.

After Receiving Your Contract

☑ Be sure to thoroughly review the Know Before You Go section for key pre-arrival details and to continue to familiarize yourself with the Disney Look guidelines and our health and safety requirements prior to the start of your contract.

☑ Upload your signed onboarding documents including your contract to DOC. Click to Upload.

☑ Review your travel itinerary and check for travel advisories. Check with your airline and destination's embassy if health info, departure testing, or other documents specific to your nationality are required to board your flight as well as successfully arrive at your final destination without travel interruptions or delays.

☑ Depending on the ship itinerary, location and the season you are sailing, temperatures can vary between warm, tropical climates to colder climates. Make sure to check the local weather prior to traveling to start your contract.  A sweater or jacket is recommended for cooler temperatures. 

☑ Crew Members are required to disclose any change in medical condition or medication regiment after completing the Pre-Employment Medical Evaluation (PEME) form, no matter how minor. Additionally, Crew Members are required to disclose all medications they are taking, including those acquired over-the-counter. Some medications, such as headache tablets containing codeine, may be legal in your country (over-the-counter) but prohibited elsewhere and not permitted on DCL vessels.

To report a change in medical condition or over-the-counter medications, please contact DCL-Crew.Medical.Services@disney.com. Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in disciplinary action including termination.

Please ask the front desk for a "Hotel Welcome Letter" if you don't receive one at check-in. This letter contains important information about your stay and includes a health screening form, which you'll need to fill out for embarkation day.

Your room has been designated as a smoke-free room. Smoking or vaping is not allowed during your stay.

Your room will not be serviced during your stay; however, if you need fresh linens or towels, you may request them.

Complimentary high-speed internet and Wi-Fi will be available.

DCL Crew Members are entitled to breakfast, lunch, and dinner each full day of their stay. Your meal allotment is based on anticipated time of check-in to the hotel. The exact allowance will be provided by the front desk. Please keep in mind alcohol is not included in your meal allowance. If you purchase alcohol or go over your allowance you need to pay for this at check-out.​ When paying for meals, please add a tip in accordance with local customs if a gratuity is not already included.

All crew members, regardless of position, will need to possess a valid STCW Personal Survival Techniques (PST) certification.

Your in-person Orientation Training known as “Disney Traditions,” is scheduled 1 day prior to your embarkation, unless otherwise instructed.

You must be within Disney Look guidelines in order to attend the class.

• Please dress accordingly with weather-appropriate clothing.
• No shorts, tank tops, torn jeans, sandals, hats, or t-shirts with words.
• For safety and comfort reasons, closed-toe shoes for walking, sunscreen, and water bottle are recommended.

Class will start promptly at 9:00AM. For class location, please refer to lobby signage monitors or inquire at the front desk.​

Please have breakfast before class. Lunch will be provided at Traditions.​

Please come with a photo ID or passport. Please dress appropriately for class. ​

The bus to the port is scheduled to depart at 6:00 AM. 

☑ Check out before 5:45AM. ​

☑ Complete the Health Questionnaire Form provided at check-in. If you select “yes” to any question on this questionnaire, do not leave your room and contact the DCL Medical Team.​

☑ A breakfast box will be provided to you upon check-out by the front desk. You may eat on the bus to the port, but you MUST clean up after yourself!​

☑ Please do NOT leave trash on the bus.​

☑ You must stop at the front desk to check out in person. You are responsible for paying any additional charges you signed to your room. ​

☑ The scheduled bus departure is 6:00AM. Bus pick-up will be found outside the main lobby entrance to the right in the surface parking lot.​ 

PLEASE DO NOT BE LATE FOR THE BUS! ​

Please be sure you have your passport and all safety certificates placed in your hand luggage. This will ensure they are easily accessible as you are required to turn them in upon boarding the vessel.​

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), there has been an increase in the number of crew members who have absconded in U.S. ports, across the cruise line industry. When a crew member fails to join a ship or departs a ship with no intention of returning, and stays in a country illegally, this is known as absconding. Disney Cruise Line works closely with CBP to reduce the number of absconders and reports missing or suspected absconding Crew Members immediately.

In addition, CBP has reported an increase in human trafficking among the people involved in these cases. This is a serious safety concern. In some cases, crew members may be promised a better job on shore with more pay or certain housing conditions, in return for the crew member entering the country illegally. Instead, they are put in a dangerous situation.
